Saudi National Day 2024, celebrated annually on September 23, commemorates the founding of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1932 by King Abdulaziz, who unified the regions of Nejd and Hejaz under the rule of the House of Saud. It became a public holiday in 1965 by King Faisal and was formalized in 2005 by King Abdullah. As one of the three non-religious holidays in Saudi Arabia, the occasion is marked with traditional dances, songs, and various festivities, with people decorating streets and buildings with Saudi flags and dressing in the national colors of green and white.
