As always, Huawei unveiled the all-new versions of the popular “P series” during a press conference held in Paris, France, on March 26.
Series oriented photographers “Huawei Photography” witnessed a huge development in the “P30 Pro” this year. Besides the high technical specifications of the phone, some awesome camera specifications are added to the phone that are not found in any other phone in the world. In this review, we will take you through a journey to talk about everything about the phone.
Starting with the design
The phone comes in full glass design with the special colors of Huawei (Azure Blue, Aurora), with awesome color tones that sometimes make the blue color tends to the yellowish color of the sunset. With metal side frame, where you can find the power button and the volume buttons to raise and lower the sound on the right-side. It also has simple curvature-like curves on the Samsung Edge.
If we talk more about colors, the most famous color is, the azure blue, comes in distinctive and strange colors at the same time. In some lighting conditions, it will appear white and in others, you will see gray and sometimes it will be purple or orange-yellow.
Compared to the Mate 20 Pro, the “P30 pro” is better looking, thanks to Huawei's distinctive and awesome colors used on the glass back; which is a part of the differences between the two phones, but the other design differences are considered key differences, most notably the presence of “speaker” at the bottom of the device; extra advantage for the “P30 pro”, missed by the “Mate 20 Pro”, that used the charger port as an external speaker. We will talk in details about the performance of the speakers during the review.
Of course, besides the external speakers, we have the charger port, the microphone, and the SIMs tray.
In general, the design is close in the two devices, but the looking is quite different from the front where you can find the “water drop notch” was seen in the “P30 Pro” and you can find a “rectangular notch” on the “Mate 20 pro”, or the arrangement of the four prominent cameras in the “P30 Pro”, compared to the box that held three cameras In “Mate 20 pro”.
Display

The 6.27-inch Full HD +, AMOLED-screen, offers a 400-pixel per inch, supports HDR 10.
The screen is less accurate than the “Mate 20 Pro”, which comes with 3120X1440 resolution and a 538 pixels per inch.
Regardless of the numbers, the screen in the P30 Pro offers a good experience without a doubt, originally the human eye cannot see more than 400 pixels per inch.
In fact, there are some other negative points. The screen colors in the videos are directed to increase the intensity in an incomprehensible way, which changes the degrees of some colors, such as gray, which turns to black and green, which tends to brighten significantly. Also, the resolution of the video on the “P30 Pro” will not be higher than the 1080p anyway, no matter the quality of the content of the image, despite the camera can shoot video at 2K resolution.
Except that, the screen experience is very acceptable. No problems can be severe flaws in your use. The view-angles and brightness under the sun's rays are impressive.
And because the screen is AMOLED-screen; it is supported by the Allow-on-display.
Fingerprint
Since we talk about the screen it is the time to talk about the fingerprint as it is part of the screen, the fingerprint on the “P30 Pro” is very fast and very accurate. In fact, it cannot be said that it has improved dramatically than it did on the “Mate 20 pro”, but what we should appreciate is its presence in the most suitable place in the screen.
You might not have thought that the presence of the fingerprint in the middle of the “Mate 20 Pro” screen was something that spoiled the experience for you but was also for me.
The fingerprint has become a bit faster and more accurate but it still works with optical technology that scans the finger for recognition.
Speakers
Speakers were back to its original position in the “P30 Pro”, after combining them with the Type-C charging port on the “Mate 20 Pro”, you will get the Mono sound experience not Stereo sound because there is no speaker at the top.
Mentioning the top speaker, there is no earpiece in the Notch, Huawei decided to remove this earpiece and integrate it down the screen with electromagnetic levitation technology.
Although the “Mate 20 Pro” speakers are stereo speakers, they don’t offer a better experience than the Momo speakers in the “P30 Pro”.
Battery
If you are impressed with the “Mate 20 Pro” battery performance, then you will be amazed by the “P30 pro” performance of the battery, a 4200-mA battery gives you the ability of two days experience with medium usage or a full day of savage usage, and 7 hours screen-on time.
Huawei provided a unique battery experience, besides the strong battery that can compete with any flagship, they also added 40W fast charging, which charges 70% of the battery in just 30 minutes, and 15W fast wireless charging with wireless-charge-sharing function, allows the “P30 Pro” to charge other devices.
Software and specifications
The “P30 Pro” comes with Kiran 980 exactly like “Mate 20 Pro” and 8GB RAM phone and 256 internal storage (128 in Mate 20 Pro), the internal storage is extendable by SD card. As well as the same IP68 water and dust resistance as the “Mate 20 Pro”.
The phone comes with the latest version of Android 9, with the Huawei EMUI 9.1 interface, which offers additional features in application control and overall performance, which we see here for the first time on a leading device from the company.
Without hesitation, I can confirm the speed of the system and the daily use experience are unique on the “P30 Pro”, but if you are a Huawei fan boy as me personally; you would be frustrated by the continuation of the same design style of user interface menus and applications that you have been tired of in all your previous phones.
The Kiran 980 offers a very powerful gaming experience and on the highest settings, without losing any quality.
Camera

In fact, we are just getting started, we have not talked about the most powerful feature in this device, which is the camera.
The three cameras at the “Mate 20 Pro” offered a good shooting experience in strong lighting conditions and even in low light, but the “P30 Pro” cameras offer a unique experience. The cameras are the best cameras in any smartphone in the world today.
In terms of numbers, the basic lens in the phone comes with 40 megapixels with 1.6 lens, and the Ultra-wide lens comes with 20 megapixels with 2.2 lens slot, a telephoto lens with an 8-megapixel camera with 3.4 lens, and finally the TOF 3D SENSOR lens.
Basic Camera
Nothing new, as expected the camera will provide distinctive photo images in all cases in terms of the distribution of lighting and balance of lighting areas and shadows in images, colors, and sharpness.
Huawei has been offering good cameras since partnering with LEICA in the P9, but what makes the camera better is the image color processing system as the policy will change from the usual RGB to RYB, which means the green color will change into yellow, which the company says is helping to get more lighting, which means that the images will be of better quality in terms of color saturation and all these things.
Wide lens
This lens is one of the usual features now in such a price category, Huawei adopts a wide angle × 0.6 with the help of the basic camera in order to provide the best image quality possible.
In general, the Wide-Angle photography experience produces detailed images in detail and saturation.
Telephoto Lens

This is the strongest feature in the “P30 Pro”. There is no phone in the market until the moment of writing these words can provide a close experience while maintaining the quality like the “P30 pro”.
Thanks to the Telephoto lens, you can take pictures with 5x zoom without losing any detail. Huawei has put several lenses inside the device horizontally, allowing images to be accessed through a reflector to get these images with a vibration inhibitor that delivers fantastic performance in photo and video.
The lens is strong? We haven’t finished yet! Huawei provided an additional 10x hybrid zoom better than the optical zoom with no loss of detail maintaining the sharpness in each image.
In addition to the 5x and 10X zoom features, Huawei added another feature on the “P30 Pro” that allows you to take pictures with the 50x Digital zoom, which means that images taken by the lens can reach 580 meters!!!
With the usage of the Digital zoom, you will get much less accurate than the hybrid and optical zoom, but you can still see the details and read the texts in the image.
Night photography and photography without lighting

iPhone 10X MAX, Samsung Galaxy S10, and other leading company phones cannot offer a photo-taking experience at night with background isolation, color saturation and dynamic range like the “P30 Pro”.
Night-time or low-light photography whether you are using the Night Mood or not; it offers a great experience that cannot be compared to any other phone camera on the market. And of course, the same for “Mate 20 Pro”.
If you're Tech fan, you will know that Google added a feature called “Night Sight” that lets the camera take photos with almost no lighting.
In “P30 Pro” this feature works much better than Pixel 3. The pictures that come out here are very distinctive in detail, color and without any kind of Noise.
Video shooting
The “P30 Pro” supports 2K video shooting with the shift between different lenses during shooting and with the feature of motion video stabilization that works well but not excellent.
Video recording here supports “bokeh effect” that exists on the “Mate 20 Pro”, but it is better here in many levels thanks to the TOF Lens, which helps to isolate and determine the colors of people only within pictures and videos.
Front camera
The front camera offers a good shooting experience most often, using 32-megapixels, which can capture a good amount of light and 90% of the time can work properly on dynamic range and good insulation. Good colors are provided both in general shots and for the skin.
In conclusion, the P series is not that amazing series in terms of providing new technical features. As we mentioned, the differences are just simple adjustments maintaining the main features of the “Mate 20 pro”. This phone is the first Huawei phone with the under screen fingerprint and now it is a little bit faster also the position was modified, as is the technology of wireless-charge- sharing on the back of the phone, which appeared for the first time in the Mate series with Mate 20 Pro and is now on the “P30 Pro”.
The real difference here is in the design excellence and the powerful cameras. Without competition, Huawei “P30 Pro” offers an amazing imaging experience that is not available on any device at all till the moment.
So, will upgrading from Mate 20 Pro months later, be worth it?
Yes, there are some good technical adjustments in my point of view, most notably the location of the fingerprint on the screen, as I mentioned, but if you want an answer without "maybe – hesitation". The upgrade will definitely worth it; if you are looking for a camera to take better images in all lighting conditions and for almost all uses.
